The Hong Kong Jockey Club Equine Welfare Research Foundation is delighted to announce that its latest call for applications will open between 1st December 2022 and 31st January 2023.

The Foundation’s aim is to encourage and support scientific research to address issues that impact the quality of life of the Thoroughbred racehorse. We have worked with stakeholders to identify problems that are considered to be of direct relevance to horses in race training together with those that have retired from racing and we particularly hope to receive applications that address these Priority Research Topics.

The Foundation has strengthened its commitment to support major studies this round by increasing its funding scale of Major Research Projects and Research Training Scholarships to HKD 3 million per award.

We hope to provide an even smoother application process this round by providing online access to our Standard Terms and Conditions of Grant in the Grant Administration Manual, allowing applicants to review these before they submit their proposal. We are also offering even closer support to researchers throughout the application process, by providing a more intuitive application portal and a detailed user manual for the portal.
